B. Organizational Capability <br />1. Provide the mission statement and vision of your organization: <br />Mission Statement.' <br />The mission of 211 Palm Beach/Treasure Coast is: to connect people to services 24 hours a day by <br />understanding their individual emotional, financial, and community needs and to support the health <br />& human service system as a whole. <br />Vision: <br />211 Palm Beach/Treasure Coast envisions a community where people in crisis receive the <br />information and support they need to weather life's storms. <br />2. Provide a brief summary of your organization, including areas of expertise, accomplishments and <br />servea. <br />211 Palm Beach/Treasure Coast, as a 501(c)3 non-profit health and human service agency, is <br />in its forty-seventh year of service overall and its twelfth year of service to the residents of <br />Indian River County. 211 HelpLine provides a team of specially trained staff who are available <br />365 days a year, to provide crisis intervention/suicide prevention services and to assist callers <br />in accessing needed services. <br />The 211 HelpLine program serves as the front door to health and human services in Indian <br />River, Martin, St. Lucie, Palm Beach, and Okeechobee Counties. 'This 24 hour/7 day per week <br />telephone and technology based service is available to all populations in Indian River County; <br />serves all geographic areas of the County; all ethnic groups; all age groups; all socio-economic <br />levels; and all service needs. There is no criteria/eligibility for this service. <br />The overall program goal of 211 HelpLine is to link clients to community-based services in <br />order to meet their needs. To accomplish this, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, <br />comprehensive information, assessment and referral, telephone counseling, service linkage, <br />client advocacy, and, when possible, follow-up is provided. <br />In 2017, the 211 HelpLine responded to 4,412 calls, texts, and emails from Indian River County <br />residents and over 20,000 requests for help from the entire Treasure Coast service area. <br />Special attributes of 211 HelpLine's services and areas of expertise are as follows: <br />® Active Listening; <br />® Non -Directive Counseling; <br />® Extensive Staff Training (100+hours); <br />® Knowledge and Expertise in Suicide Lethality Evaluation; <br />® Quality, Comprehensive Resource Database; <br />® Service Availability 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; <br />® Access via Cell Phone, Chat, E-mail, and Online, as well as regular Landlines; <br />® Toll Free Availability; <br />® Interpreter Service; and <br />® Collection and Reporting of Service Information/Community Needs. <br />In regard to accomplishments over the past year, the Mental Health Connections Center <br />opened in Indian River County and funding was provided to hire a new 211 staff person <br />to work on-site. For this new position, we are proud to now have a staff person in four <br />out of our five county service area. 2017 was also the inaugural year for our 211 Lifeline <br />Luncheon that focused on the Heroin/Opioid Epidemic in our area. This was a very <br />successful event and our largest to date. <br />In addition, 211 has continued to provide Sunshine Telephone Reassurance services to Indian <br />Page 3 of 13 <br />173 <br />
