DeBlois, AICP <br />Chief, Environmental Planning <br />DATE: October 25, 1994 <br />RE: Request for Board Execution of FIND Project <br />Agreement for Pelican Island National Wildlife <br />Refuge Signage and Brochure <br />It is requested that the*data herein presented be given formal <br />consideration by the Board of County Commissioners at its regular <br />meeting on November 1, 1994. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The Board of County Commissioners, at its meeting. of April 26, <br />1994, authorized staff to submit a grant application to the Florida <br />Inland Navigation District (FIND) for improved signage and an <br />informational brochure relating to the Pelican Island National <br />Wildlife Refuge (PINWR). The application was submitted in response <br />to citizen complaints that existing boundary signage at the refuge <br />does not provide sufficient information regarding public use <br />opportunities. <br />Specifically, the application was for funding for a kiosk display; _ <br />design and printing of a PINWR information brochure; and four <br />waterway information signs (3 of which are two-sided), including <br />sign installation costs (see attached project cost estimates <br />table). <br />On July 23, 1994, the FIND Board approved the grant application, <br />with the following estimated project costs distribution: <br />3 6 <br />BOOK f'�IGF 72 <br />November 1, 1994 <br />
