EXPENDITURES <br />Expenditures for fiscal year 2017 totaled <br />$181.3 million, which was an increase over <br />the previous year. By far, the largest <br />expenditure of County funds is for Public <br />Safety, increasing this year mainly due to the <br />completion of the helicopter hangar and <br />increases in salaries and benefits. Physical <br />environment increased due in part to <br />hurricane related repairs at the Lateral D <br />canal and for professional services for an <br />aquatic plant pilot study.
