This proposal seeks to replicate and continue the success of the STEP into Kindergarten
program. This evidence based curriculum extends the school year for children who have completed a Voluntary
Pre -K Program, and benefit from this "bridge" program that extends the school year through June and July.
Priority is given to students identified as homeless, migrant and students residing in school zones with the
highest poverty percentages.
The Education Foundation collaborates with the SDIRC to leverage the community's investment in our schools
with the goal of achieving excellence for students and educators. We work together to fund -raise, administer
and implement programs like STEP into K to prepare 4 and 5 year old children to arrive at Kindergarten prepared
to begin their academic careers.
1
