r <br />October 2, 2018 <br />ITEM 8 Consent <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Members of the Board of County Commissioners <br />DATE: September 19, 2018 <br />SUBJECT: Blanket Travel Authorization for Commissioners, County Officers, and <br />Staff for Fiscal Year 2018/2019 (October 1, 2018 through September 30, <br />2019) <br />FROM: Tina Cournoyer, Commissioner Assistant <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS: <br />Presently, Commissioners sit on committees for which out of county travel may be <br />required to attend assigned committee meetings (example: Treasure Coast Regional <br />Planning Council). Additionally, Commissioners, County Officers, and Staff may need to <br />attend legislative conferences, policy conferences, and meetings scheduled by Florida <br />Association of Counties, National Association of Counties and local or regional <br />legislative programs. <br />There are also occasions when it is necessary for Commissioners, County Officers, and <br />Staff to travel to Tallahassee or other locations in the State to meet with State <br />Representatives, State Senators, and State Agencies such as the Department of <br />Environmental Protection, Department of Transportations, and others. Commissioners, <br />County Officers, and Staff may also need to travel out of County in relation to lobbying <br />efforts for the County's various projects, grants, and legislative priorities or other <br />proposed legislation. In addition, Commissioners, County Officers, and Staff may need <br />to attend meetings or hearings related to All Aboard Florida. <br />FUNDING: <br />Funding for this travel has been included in the Fiscal Year 2018/2019 budget. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Approval is recommended for Commissioners, County Officers, and Staff to travel out of <br />county for current and future assigned committee meetings; Florida Association of <br />Counties, National Association of Counties, and local or regional legislative conferences <br />36 <br />
