-5L <br />PROCLAMATION <br />DESIGNATING THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER, 2018, <br />AS NATIONAL ADOPTION AWARENESS MONTH <br />WHEREAS, Place of Hope, the largest and fastest growing foster care organization in the Treasure <br />Coast, and Communities Connected for Kids have upheld our legacy of transforming the lives of <br />children and families; and <br />WHEREAS, there are currently 1,123 children being served by the child welfare system across the <br />Treasure Coast, with 206 children in Indian River County; and <br />WHEREAS, there are 53 children awaiting adoption without an identified home, 20 from Indian River <br />County; and <br />WHEREAS, Place of Hope and Communities Connected for Kids work diligently with the Department <br />of Children and Families to ensure that every child has a forever family, evidenced by the 30 families <br />receiving foster to adoption assistance in the Treasure Coast; and <br />WHEREAS, children waiting for adoptive parents, and families who have adopted these children, <br />require and deserve community and agency support; and <br />WHEREAS, Place of Hope and Communities Connected for Kids, along with community partners, <br />embrace opportunities that can potentially change the way society cares for children and youth. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the month of November, 2018, be designated as <br />NATIONAL ADOPTION AWARENESS MONTH <br />in Indian River County. In honor of this event, we encourage community agencies, religious <br />organizations, businesses, and others to celebrate adoption, honor families that grow through <br />adoption, further an awareness of the changes and issues in adoption, and focus attention on those <br />children who live in the shadow of an uncertain future while they await forever families. <br />Adopted this 6th day of November, 2018 BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />Peter D.
