Zito, Assistant County Administrator <br />From: <br />Beth Powell, Conservation Lands Manager <br />Subject: <br />Notice of Grant Award from the Florida Inland Navigation District <br />for the Jones' Pier and Oyster Bar Marsh Conservation Areas — <br />Waterways Assistance Program #IR -18-67 and #IR -18-68. <br />DESCRIPTIONS AND CONDITIONS: <br />On March 20, 2018, and May 1, 2018, staff presented two Consent Agenda items for the Jones' <br />Pier Conservation Area Public Use Improvements and the Oyster Bar Marsh Conservation Area <br />improvements, respectively. The items presented the opportunity to apply for grant funding from <br />the Florida Inland Navigation District's Waterways Assistance Program. The Board of County <br />Commissioners approved both Resolutions and grant applications presented. Both applications <br />were successfully submitted and the County has been chosen to receive both grant awards with <br />modified funding amounts during the 2018-19 funding cycle. <br />#IR -18-67 JONES' PIER CONSERVATION AREA PUBLIC USE MPROVEMENTS <br />On March 6, 2018, the Board authorized staff to apply for grants for the Jones' Pier Conservation <br />Area public use improvements and other site improvements including the wetland. Subsequently, <br />on March 20, 2018, the Board authorized the chairman to execute a Resolution for the 2018-19 <br />FIND Grant Application in the amount of $150,000 with a County match of $150,000. After <br />receiving the engineer's estimate and while finalizing the grant request of $150,000, staff included <br />the water and sewer connection which raised the total project cost to $364,000. The approved <br />funding from FIND WAP for the Jones' Pier Conservation Area is $130,000 with a County match <br />of $130,000. These funds will be utilized toward public use improvements including site work, <br />construction of the parking lot, restrooms, and picnic pavilions.
