Goal 3: Adult residents will increase their knowledge and skills in the areas of positive <br />parenting by a minimum of 5-10% as evidenced through pre- and post-tests given at the <br />beginning and end of the facilitated workshops. <br />Result: In the third quarter, the Samaritan Center adult resident clients participated in the <br />following workshops titled: Parenting -School Readiness, Germ Prevention, and How to <br />Negotiate and Advocate Financial Literacy Lesson. Post-test resulted in an overall average of <br />30% increase knowledge leading to healthy families. <br />Goal 4: Seventy-five percent of resident children will increase their knowledge and skills in <br />the area of academic performance as evidenced through progress reports and report cards. <br />The children will be evaluated during the academic year. <br />Result: In comparing academic school year performance from the 1st quarter report card of the <br />school year to the 4th quarter, 90% of the resident children have increased their knowledge and <br />skills. It should be noted the Samaritan Center routinely enlists qualified tutors to assist <br />children to increase skills, as needed. When staff notice resident parents need to strengthen <br />parenting skills, these parents are required to attend tutoring sessions to empower themselves <br />while learning to advocate for their child's education and future well-being. 100% of our <br />school -aged children receive academic support and or social skills mentoring provided by caring <br />volunteers.
