ARTICLE 20 <br />TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENTS <br />20.1 The County shall not be prevented from temporarily assigning or appointing any <br />employee to perform work which would normally be done by an employee in <br />another classification, when at the discretion of the County such an assignment <br />or appointment is necessary. <br />20.2 An employee temporarily assigned and/or transferred, at the department's <br />discretion to perform work outside his normal classification shall suffer no loss of <br />pay should said temporary assignment be to a lower classification. An employee <br />who is transferred temporarily to a classification which is not in the bargaining <br />unit shall be subject to check off deduction during the term of the temporary <br />transfer. <br />20.3 An employee who is temporarily assigned by management to work in a higher <br />classification or work as a crew leader shall receive 12.5% temporary <br />assignment pay for each day of the assignment. Generally, the qualified, most <br />senior employee will be assigned unless such assignment will result in a <br />disruption to operational efficiency or a reallocation of staffing resources. <br />Employees assigned in this capacity must demonstrate the ability to organize <br />work, oversee assignments, work safely, and complete job tasks efficiently. <br />26 <br />
