Addendum #1 <br />D. Embankment - General Requirements for Embankment Materials: The following is <br />added after the first paragraph of Subarticle 120-7.2: <br />Roadway Design Standard Index No. 505, Embankment Utilization Details is modified <br />by the addition of the following: <br />Any stratum or stockpile or soil which contains obvious pockets of highly organic <br />material may be designated as muck or unsuitable for construction of subgrade by the <br />Owner. <br />Backfill material containing more than 2.0% by weight of organic material, as <br />determined by FM 1-T 267 and by averaging the test results for three randomly <br />selected samples from each stratum or stockpile of a particular material, shall not be <br />used in construction of the reinforced volume. If an individual test value of the three <br />samples exceeds 3.0%, the stratum or stockpile will not be suitable for construction of <br />the reinforced volume. <br />No A-8 material permitted in embankment. <br />E. Payment shall be made under: <br />Bid Item No. 120-1 — Excavation, Regular (Roadway) — Per Lump Sum <br />Bid Item No. 120-6 - Embankment (Compacted in Place) - Per Cubic Yard <br />SECTION —160 - STABILIZING <br />A. Section 160 is modified by the addition of the following: <br />"The stabilization thickness indicated on plans shall be considered a minimum <br />thickness. Thickness will vary to conform to the lines, and grades shown in the plans." <br />Minimum L.B.R. = 40 - No under -tolerance. <br />B. Payment shall be made under: <br />Bid Item No. 160-4 - Type B Stabilization 12" Shoulder (LBR-40) - Per Square Yard <br />SECTION — 285 — OPTIONAL BASE COURSE <br />A. Sub Article 285-4 is modified by the addition of the following: <br />Base material, thickness and requirements are described in the construction plans. <br />Only one type of alternate base material shall be used. No additional payment will be <br />made for base thickness in excess of the specified thickness <br />3. B.
