"SONNY" DEAN, DIRECTOR <br />DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICIS <br />SUBJECT: INDIAN RIVER COUNTY COURTHOUSE PROJECT <br />PARTIAL RELEASE OF CONTRACTOR'S RETAINAGE <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Attached is the courthouse contractor's request for payment number <br />24. The total requested is $589,984.31. This amount includes a <br />request for reduction in the retainage by $501,110.28, or <br />approximately 50% of the amount being held. This request is in <br />accordance with their contract with the County. <br />ANALYSIS: <br />Centex Rooney, our Construction Manager on this project has <br />recommended payment of the amount requested as outlined in their <br />attached letter. <br />Pierce Goodwin Alexander and Linville, our architect on the project <br />has authorized payment of the amount requested. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Since the County will retain $510,000 after payment of this <br />request, staff recommends payment at $589,984.31. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Tippin, to approve Application for <br />Payment #24 from Cummings, Inc. in the amount of <br />$589,984.31, as set out in the above staff <br />recommendation. <br />Under discussion, Commissioner Adams asked when the final <br />totals will be coming before the Board, and General Services <br />Director Sonny Dean advised that it is scheduled for the February <br />28 meeting. <br />Commissioner Bird asked how long we are required to hold the <br />retainage with respect to errors and omissions, and Director Dean <br />FEBRUARY 7, 1995 90 <br />
