MOO <br />ON MOTION BY Commissioner Adams, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously approved an <br />interest rate of 8.5% for the coming year, to be <br />monitored by staff who will present their findings <br />and recommendations for the.following calendar year. <br />PRELIMU NARY BUDGET PRESENTATION <br />Deferred until the end of the meeting. <br />IIEALTIi CARE PLAN <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of January 26, 1995: <br />34 PACE 346 <br />. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . <br />To: Board of County Commissioners Date: January 26, 1995 <br />From: Jack Price, Personnel gj� Sub: Health Care Plan <br />. . . . . . . . . . . . . 00 . . . . . . . . . . . . . • • 00 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . <br />DESCRIPTION <br />In June, 1994 the Board of County Commissioners tentatively awarded <br />the employee group health care program bid to Acordia of 'South <br />Florida, Inc. and authorized staff and Siver Insurance Consultants <br />to proceed in working out all contract details necessary to <br />implement the plan effective October 1, 1994. <br />In July, 1994 the Board of County Commissioners awarded bids for <br />the employee group health care plan, optional employee long term <br />disability plan, optional employee and dependent life insurance <br />plan and a premium conversion plan (Section 125) which permits <br />employee costs for certain benefits to be tax exempt, to Acordia of <br />South Florida, Inc., GroupAmerica Insurance Company and Florida <br />Combined Life Insurance Company. <br />Attached hereto are the -outstanding provider agreements which are <br />submitted for approval. These include a Minimum Premium Agreement <br />with Anthem Life Insurance Company (Acordia of South Florida, Inc.) <br />for medical coverage, utilization management and preferred provider <br />organization access; and a service standards agreement with Acordia <br />Of South Florida, Inc. for claims processing and insurance <br />services. Also attached is a resolution which serves to authorize <br />establishment of the premium conversion plan. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The Board of County Commissioners authorize the Chairman to execute - <br />the agreements and resolution. <br />FEBRUARY 14, 1995 16 <br />
