33.11 When needed to staff ALS stations and/or apparatus, the County may assign qualified <br />individuals to work as the ALS lead. One ALS lead will be assigned per ALS apparatus. <br />Qualified individuals are those individuals who are grandfathered in and receiving Solo <br />Paramedic incentive and those individuals who are approved by the Medical Director. <br />Individuals serving as the ALS lead, who are not already receiving Solo Paramedic <br />incentive, shall be paid $1.50 per hour incentive pay for each hour working as the ALS lead. <br />The ALS lead is an assignment not a classification. Assignment is made in the sole <br />discretion of management and is not subject to equal distribution among eligible individuals. <br />If qualified by the Medical Director, the employee may not reject the assignment. <br />33.12 -The County shall make available up to $10,000 per fiscal year for the purpose of reimbursing <br />employees for tuition expenses. Reimbursements shall be evaluated and approved based on <br />the criteria below on a first come, first serve basis. Only the cost paid for tuition based on the <br />grade criteria below will be eligible for reimbursement. The courses for eligibility MUST be <br />related to the program of fire or EMS related services. Elective courses and general <br />education courses are not eligible. <br />A. The employees must first received written approval prior to taking the course. <br />B. Must have 3 years of service with Indian River County Fire Rescue Division. <br />C. Must execute a payback agreement with the County. <br />1. If the employee leaves employment within two (2) years, they will be <br />required to repay the entire cost of reimbursement. <br />Reimbursement will follow the below schedule: <br />"A" - 80% Reimbursement <br />"B" - 65% Reimbursement <br />"C" - 50% Reimbursement <br />60 <br />
