Szpyrka, P.E. <br />Public Works Director <br />Kendra Cope, M.S. <br />Coastal Resources Coordinator <br />Work Order No. 2018029-4 APTIM: Sector 5 Beach Restoration Project — <br />Construction Administration <br />May 29, 2019 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />On April 3, 2018, the Board approved a contract with APTIM Environmental & Infrastructure, Inc. <br />(Aptim) for professional coastal engineering and biological support services related to the <br />management and restoration of the Sector 5 (City of Vero Beach) beach project area. The Sector <br />5 project area is a 3 -mile section of shoreline that extends just north of Tracking Station Beach <br />Park south to the Gables Oceanfront Condominiums. The Sector 5 project area sustained damage <br />from Hurricane Matthew (2016) and Hurricane Irma (2017) and is in need of a large-scale beach <br />and dune nourishment project to maintain protection to upland properties and infrastructure. <br />The proposed Work Order No. 2018029-4, in the amount of $241,741.00, provides professional <br />services in support of construction administration and monitoring prior to, during, and after <br />construction of the Sector 5 Beach Restoration Project. Staff worked with APTIM to reduce Work <br />Order No. 2018029-4 costs where possible and feasible. <br />FUNDING <br />Local funding for beach restoration is provided by a portion of Local Option Tourist Tax. Funding <br />for WO#2018029-4 in the total of $241,741.00 is proposed in the 2019/2020 FY budget request. <br />Once approved, funding will be available in the Beach Restoration Fund, Hurricane Matthew <br />Account - Sector 5, No. 12814472-066510-17001. <br />With the issuance of FEMA Project Worksheets (No.00808 — Hurricane Matthew, No.3025 — <br />Hurricane Irma), project related design, permitting, and construction expenses are eligible for up <br />to 87.5% in Federal and State cost share. <br />Page 2 <br />C:\Users\legistar\AppData\Local\Temp\BCL Technologies\easyPDF 8\@BCL@080EE583\@BCL@080EE583.docx <br />86 <br />
