INDIAN RIVER COUNTY - NORTH COUNTY REGIONAL PARK PAGE 4 <br />AQUATIC FACILITY ROOFING REPLACEMENT SECTION 264100 <br />JU,NE7, 2019 LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM <br />TVSS: <br />1. Surge protective devices shall be installed at the first switchboard, panelboard, <br />transfer switch, or other location (service entrance), that the service encounters as it <br />enters the facility and/or as indicated on Contract Drawings. The surge protection <br />device is connected on the supply side of the electrical service it is protecting. <br />` NOTE: TVSS marked L1, L2, L3, N, and GND (as applicable) must be connected, <br />r respectively, to phase(s), neutral, and ground. <br />4 2. TVSSs shall be mounted next to or in the main/sub-panel that is to be protected. <br />The location of the TVSS shall be chosen to minimize the lead lengths between the <br />{ TVSS and the circuit breaker to which it is connected. If the TVSS must be <br />mounted external to the panel box, the leads must be routed within a metal conduit <br />as necessary, and kept as short as possible. Wire size for leads shall be as <br />specified by manufacturer (minimum of No. 8 AWG, maximum of No. 4 AWG). <br />3. Surge protective devices shall be installed neatly. Lead dress shall be as short and <br />as straight as possible. Bind the phase, neutral, and ground conductors tightly, over <br />the entire run, from the suppresser to the service panel, and always use the <br />shortest length of connecting cable possible. <br />a. When installing a series connected TVSS, bind the supply side conductors <br />separately from the load side conductors. <br />4. Install surge protectors in light pole bases and connect in accord with <br />manufacturer's instructions. <br />5. Connect surge protector to the basic grounding system. <br />END OF SECTION <br />
