Wehking, Director, Library Services <br />Subject: Indian River County Library State Aid to Libraries Grant <br />BACKGROUND <br />In order to comply with the State Division of Library Information Services State Aid Grant <br />Application, the Indian River County Library System must have the Grant Agreement and required <br />documents approved by the Governing Board and signed by the Chair. <br />DESCRIPTIONS AND CONDITIONS: <br />The State Aid to Libraries Grant awarded to Indian River County Libraries was $86,869 for Fiscal <br />Year 2018-19. The Grant requires Indian River County Library System to provide free library <br />service, including loaning materials available for circulation free of charge and providing reference <br />and information services free of charge. The Libraries must provide access to materials and <br />information and services for all residents of the area served; and, to have at least one library, branch <br />library, or member library open 40 hours or more each week. <br />FUNDING: <br />No funding is required. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff respectfully recommends that the Board of County Commissioners accept the Indian River <br />County Library System State Aid Grant Agreement and Certification of Hours and authorize the <br />Chairman to sign and return the State Aid Grant Agreement and Certification of Hours for FY <br />2019-20 to the Library Services Director to be forwarded to the appropriate State Library staff. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />State Aid to Libraries Grant Agreement <br />Certification of Hours, Free Library Service and Access to Materials <br />AGENDA ITEM FOR OCTOBER 1, 2019 <br />
