Szpyrka, P.E. <br />Public Works Director <br />THROUGH: Kendra Cope, M.S. <br />Natural Resources Manager <br />FROM: Molly Klinepeter <br />IRL Plan Coordinator <br />SUBJECT: Work Order 5: Assistance with the Research and Review Development <br />Phase for the Indian River County Lagoon Management Plan <br />DATE: . September 26, 2019 <br />DESCRIPTIONS AND CONDITIONS. <br />On April 17, 2018, the Board approved a contract with Tetra Tech, Inc. (Tetra Tech) for <br />professional Water Resources/Stormwater design services for a three-year term. Tetra Tech has <br />been selected to provide professional services relative to development phases for a County Indian <br />River Lagoon Management Plan. <br />On July 16, 2019, the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners adopted an outline for <br />developing an Indian River Lagoon Management Plan. Staff will use a multi -phased approach to <br />develop this plan over the timeline identified in the outline. The first phase is the Research Review <br />Phase, which identifies 17 key factors that may be impacting the health of the County's portion of <br />the Indian River Lagoon (IRL). Staff has been working with stakeholders of the IRL to collect all <br />current scientific and data -based information about these outlined factors. In.order to interpret <br />these data, identify data gaps, and disseminate information learned to the public, staff has <br />requested assistance from Tetra Tech. <br />The proposed Work Order No. 5, in the amount of $25,000, provides professional services to: <br />• Gather available research associated with 17 key factors <br />• Determine questions, issues, and data gaps present <br />• Provide recommendations <br />• Provide assistance with preparing updates to BOCC <br />36 <br />
