PROCLAMATION <br />RECOGNIZING THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER, 2019, <br />AS NATIONAL ADOPTION AWARENESS MONTH <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County recognizes the communal importance of providing children in <br />foster care with safe, permanent homes where they can grow and thrive; and <br />WHEREAS, every child deserves the chance to grow up in a loving, stable family; and <br />WHEREAS, there are currently 28 children awaiting adoption across the Treasure Coast, <br />including 12 in Indian River County; and <br />WHEREAS, children waiting for adoptive parents, and the families who have already adopted or <br />are considering adopting these children, require and deserve community and agency support; and <br />WHEREAS, Communities Connected for Kids and its network of family support service providers <br />— including Place of Hope, Mount Bethel Human Services, 4Kids Treasure Coast, and Camelot <br />Community Care -- work diligently with the Florida Department of Children and Families to transform <br />the lives of hurting children and their families; and <br />WHEREAS, this effort -- along with similar celebrations in all 50 states around the country — seeks <br />to inspire dedicated individuals and families to make a profound difference in the life of a child <br />through adoption. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the month of November, 2019, be recognized as <br />National Adoption Awareness Month, and that the Board encourages community and religious <br />organizations, businesses, and others to celebrate adoption, honor families that grow through <br />adoption, and focus attention on those children who live in the shadow of an uncertain future while <br />they await forever families. <br />Adopted this 5th day of November, 2019.
