Boyer, P.E., Utilities Engineer <br />Subject: Utility Work by Highway Contractor Agreement with FDOT for the Adjustment of Valve <br />Boxes and Manhole Rims on Highway A1A <br />Background: <br />Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is planning to resurface a portion of Highway A1A/Tides <br />Road from North of SR 60 to North of CR 510. The subject project is scheduled to begin in the spring of <br />2020. The county's existing water, sewer and reuse valve boxes and manhole rims will be in conflict with <br />the proposed roadway improvements and will need to be adjusted. <br />Analysis: <br />Indian River County Department of Utility Services staff is of the opinion that the subject work be <br />performed by the same contractor doing the roadway improvements. Therefore, staff requested FDOT <br />prepare an agreement where the utility relocation/adjustment work will also be performed by the <br />prospective highway contractor. Section 3 of the agreement states the initial estimate of the cost of the <br />utility work is $21,745.00. <br />Funding: <br />Funding forthe utility valve box and manhole rim adjustment is available in the Renewal and Replacement <br />budget in the Utilities operating fund.
