CONSIDERATION AND FORMAL SELECTION OF NEIGHBORHOOD <br />REVITALIZATION CATEGORY FOR CO Y DEVELOPMENT <br />BLOCK GRANT (CDB(j) APPLICATION SUBA=AL <br />The hour of 9:05 A.M. having passed, the County Attorney <br />announced that this public hearing has been properly advertised as <br />follows: <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBGj APPLICATION <br />NOTICE OF FIRST PUBLIC NEARING <br />Indian River County is considering applying to the Florida Department of Community <br />Affairs 10CA) for a Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) of up to <br />$750,000.00. These funds must be used for one of the following purposes: <br />I.. To benefit low and moderate income persons; or <br />2. To aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight; or <br />3. To meet other community development needs having o particular urgency because <br />existing conditions pose o serious and immediate threat to the health or welfare of <br />the community and where other financial resources are not available to meet such <br />needs. <br />The activity categories for which these funds may be used are in the areas of housing, <br />neighborhood and commercial revitalization, or economic development (new jobs). Eli- <br />gible uses of funds Include such physical improvement activities as housing and commer- <br />cial building rehabilitation, clearance, water and sewer improvements, street <br />hnprovements, drainage, housing site development, parking, and loans to businesses. <br />Additional Informatbn regarding the range at activities that may be undertaken will be <br />provided of the public hearing. <br />For each activity that is proposed, of Idost 70% of the funds must benefit low and mod- <br />erate income persons. <br />In developing an application for submission to DCA, the county must plan to minimize <br />displacement of persons as a result of planned CDBG activities.
