Szpyrka, P.E. <br />Public Works Director <br />FROM: Kendra Cope, M.S. <br />Natural Resources Manager <br />SUBJECT: Release of Retainage - Work Order No. 12 Morgan & Eklund, Inc. <br />Post Hurricane Dorian Beach Profile Surveys <br />DATE: November 20, 2019 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />On October 4, 2016, the Board approved a contract with Morgan and Eklund, Inc. (M&E) for <br />Professional Land Surveying and Mapping Services for a two-year term. The Board amended the <br />Contract on October 18, 2016. M&E is the selected County Consultant for professional <br />onshore/offshore hydrographic surveying services. <br />On September 17, 2019, the Board approved Work Order No. 12, in the amount of $57,750:00 <br />for services related to post Hurricane Dorian countywide hydrographic surveying (beach profile) <br />for the Sector 3, Sector 5, Sector 7 Beach and Dune Restoration Project areas and additional <br />surveying needed to finish a post Hurricane countywide (22.4 miles) monitoring effort. All <br />onshore and offshore beach profile surveys are conducted along the Florida Department of <br />Environmental Protection (FDEP) Range Monuments at approximately 1,000 foot intervals <br />(alongshore) and extend from the vegetated dune seaward to a location approximately 40 feet <br />offshore (cross -shore). Survey data from summer profile surveys are provided to FDEP. <br />To date all work is 100% complete. The total amount of retainage withheld under Work Order <br />No. 12, is $5,775.00. A copy of the invoice is available for review in the Public Works office. <br />FUNDING <br />Local funding of Beach Restoration includes a portion of Local Option Tourist Tax. Funding for the <br />release of retainage in the amount of $5,775.00 is budgeted and available in the Beach <br />Restoration Fund, Hurricane Dorian Account No. 128-206000-19028. <br />Post storm beach profile surveys may be eligible for FEMA reimbursement if funding becomes <br />available. <br />Page 2 <br />95 <br />
