A. 19-1019 Indian River County Tax Collector Carole Jean Jordan Annual Fiscal Report for the <br />Year Ended September 30, 2019 <br />Recommended Action: Accept Report and Place on File <br />Attachments: Tax Collector Correspondence <br />Tax Collector Annual Report <br />Indian River County Tax Collector Carole Jean Jordan thanked Commissioner <br />Solari for his year of service as Chairman of the Board. She commended Richard <br />Szpyrka, Director of Public Works, for being assiduous during the renovation at the <br />Sebastian office, and thanked the Board for their investment. <br />Ms. Jordan named the job transactions handled by the Tax Collector's office. She <br />went on to say the County Tax Collector Beach office has been handling over one <br />hundred (100) transactions per day. <br />Ms. Jordan presented a check to the Board in the amount of $2,843,493 and <br />explained that over the last 12 years, they have been able to bring back $34,000,000 <br />to the County taxpayers. <br />Accepted <br />9. B. 19-1020 Indian River County Property Appraiser Wesley Davis Annual Fiscal Report for the <br />Year Ended September 30, 2019 <br />Recommended Action: Accept Report and Place on File <br />Attachments: Property Appraiser Correspondence <br />Property Appraiser Report <br />Indian River Property Appraiser Wesley Davis presented his annual fiscal report for <br />the year ended September 30, 2019. He was pleased to announce that for the first <br />time, a homeowner could apply for their homestead online, no longer needing to <br />apply in person at the Property Appraiser's Office (PAO). He pointed out that there <br />were approximately 45,000 homesteads in Indian River County and last year the <br />PAO processed 4,200 new homestead applications. He stated that his goal was to <br />have 60% of the homestead applications filed online. He discussed the many <br />changes made to the PAO to initiate cost savings, and to provide transparency and <br />budgeting. Mr. Davis mentioned the help his office received from the Taxpayers' <br />Association of Indian River County. <br />Property Appraiser Davis presented the Board with a check for $226,836.29, an <br />increase of 183% from the amount returned last year. <br />Indian River County Florida Page 7 <br />
