RESOLUTION NO. 93- 110 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE INDIAN RIVER COUNTY BOARD <br />OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ENDORSING COST -SHARE <br />PARTNERSHIP ACQUISITION OF THE "LOWENSTEIN/ <br />SALAMA PROPERTY" WITH THE ST. JOHNS RIVER <br />WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County has adopted policies in its <br />Comprehensive Plan which encourage the acquisition of tracts of <br />valuable environmentally significant land; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has decided that <br />the decision of which environmental lands to buy should be made <br />after input from a large group of varied and informed interests so <br />that the decision will have the support of the majority of the <br />population of Indian River County; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has established a <br />Land Acquisition Advisory Committee (LAAC) with broad <br />representation to advise the Board on land acquisition matters; and <br />WHEREAS, LAAC has identified approximately +139 acres of <br />environmentally significant land, referred to as the "Lowenstein/ <br />Salama Property" and generally depicted in "Attachment All attached <br />hereto, as warranting resource conservation by means of public <br />acquisition; and <br />WHEREAS, On November 3, 1992, the citizens of Indian River <br />County voted to approved a $26 million ad valorem tax bond <br />referendum as a local funding source for public acquisition of <br />environmentally significant lands; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the County's policy to seek matching funds to <br />acquire environmentally significant lands in order to maximize the <br />effectiveness of the County environmental lands acquisition <br />program; and <br />WHEREAS, the " Lowenstein/ Salama Property" is identified in the <br />St. Johns River Water Management District's Water Management Lands <br />Trust Fund Five -Year Plan for acquisition consideration; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS FULLY ENDORSES A 50% COST -SHARE PARTNERSHIP WITH THE <br />ST. JOHNS RIVER WATER MANAGMENT DISTRICT TO ACQUIRE THE HEREIN <br />DESCRIBED "LOWENSTEIN/SALAMA PROPERTY". <br />THIS RESOLUTION was moved for adoption by Commissioner <br />Eggert <br />, and the motion was seconded by Commissioner <br />Macht , and, upon being put to a vote, the vote was as <br />follows: <br />1 <br />
