Addendum 3
Is traffic allowed to drive on the FDR surface, or is it to be paved within the same shift.?
Portions of the roadway which are under full depth reclamation will have to remain open to local traffic
only. Driveways and/or business entrances cannot be blocked. All other traffic can be detoured in
accordance with the approved MOT plans.
Upon doing a takeoff, the quantities do not seem to match the pay iterns provided. Pay items in question are:
120-1A Excavation of existing asphalt and base, 160-4 Type B Stabilization, 3' shoulder & widening, 332-1
Reclaimed Base Course. Can the County provide a typical for the excavation of existing asphalt and base?
The typical section reflects variable width widening over several ranges varying from 0 -feet up to 12 -feet
depending on the typical section referenced. As such neither the typical sections nor the plan sheets appear
to be in error. With respect to the quantity value question not enough information has been provided in the
question for the Public Works Department or EOR to formulate and answer.
On Sheet 5, Typical Section 1 shows shoulder widening, but at those station locations it does not show
widening on the plan sheets. Are the typical sections right for the locations or are the plan sheets right?
The typical section reflects variable width widening over several ranges varying from 0 -feet up to 12 -feet
depending on the typical section referenced. As such neither the typical sections nor the plan sheets appear
to be in error.
I saw that the project will be needing concrete curbs, sidewalk, and a handicap parking space however,
unclear as to what type of concrete and the quantity it's asking for and if it's going to be FDOT concrete.
The county specifies all non-structural concrete be 3,000 PSI fiber reinforced mix. This is noted on Sheet 4,
Pay Item footnote for 522. This applies to individual pay items, 520 -Curb, 522 -Sidewalk, Handicap ramp,
and driveway concrete, all which have stated quantities. The Bus shelter concrete is detailed on Sheet 9 and
calls for 3,000 PSI concrete mix and gets steel rebar as stated on that detail.
Several questions/comments regarding Spec 332:
332-5.7 requires a control strip but it does not appear that there is any actual use for the control strip. This is
not asphalt.
332-5.6 There is a gradation requirement on the FDR mix on the 3 inch, 2 inch, No. 4, and No. 200 sieves. I
don't know how to control anything other than pulverizing the big pieces out.
332-6 the test frequencies seem excessive and might require an onsite laboratory to achieve.
332- One gradation every 3000SY (requires drying prior to test) and you are not supposed to proceed until
6. acceptance is given?
32-6Density test are confusing, 97% required but one test of 94% is ok unless two consecutive 95% then not
o k.
Density tests requires FM -1 T-180, don't see how that can be performed by a field technician, so how do we
do that in a timely manner?
332-6 Marshall Stability and Retained (soaked) Marshall Stability twice each day and cease operations to
discuss different course of action if you don't meet requirements. ????
332-6 Depth of mixing is 4 times as much as density testing. One test every 250 SY
Spec 332 is deleted and replaced with spec 228 in the attached modified specifications.
Pay Item 285-709 Optional Base Group 9 calls for Limerock: Will Coquina rock be allowed to be used in lieu of
Limerock? The issue with Limerock is that it may need to be transported from South Florida. Please advise.
Coquina rock is acceptable for this pay item.
Timoth , P ent
04.23.2020
