IRC-1838 Indian River County <br />Main Library <br />Roof Replacement 01 35 00-1 Hot Work Operations <br />SECTION 01 35 00 <br />HOT WORK OPERATIONS <br /> GENERAL <br />1.1 SECTION INCLUDES <br />A. Hot work includes, but is not limited to open flames and spark producing operations, <br />welding, cutting, grinding, torches, etc. <br />1.2 RELATED SECTIONS <br />A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary <br />Conditions and Specification Sections, apply to this Section including but not limited to: <br />1. Modified Bitumen Roofing Section 07 52 16 <br />1.3 SUBMITTALS <br />A. Certified Roofing Torch Applicator (CERTA) credentials from NRCA. <br />1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br />A. Torch Training: Torch operators shall be trained in accordance with the current published <br />requirements of the Certified Roofing Torch Applicator (CERTA) Program. The CERTA <br />Training Program may be obtained from NRCA/MRCA, 10255 W. Higgins Rd. Suite 600, <br />Rosemont, IL 60018-5607. <br /> PRODUCTS <br />2.1 EQUIPMENT <br />A. Torches shall not have pilot flames. The torch flames shall go out when the trigger is <br />disengaged. Torches shall be of the “dead-man” type “trigger on/trigger off operation.” <br />B. Equipment, valves, regulators, tanks, hoses and all associated equipment shall be properly <br />stored and handled and maintained as required by the respective equipment manufacturer <br />and other applicable requirements. <br />C. Fire Extinguishers: Hand carried, portable, UL rated. Provide class and extinguishing <br />agent as indicated or a combination of extinguishers of NFPA-recommended classes for <br />exposures. <br />1. Comply with NFPA 10 and NFPA 241 for classification, extinguishing agent, and <br />size required by location and class of fire exposure and the requirements of the <br />local Governing agency. <br /> EXECUTION <br />3.1 HOT WORK PERMIT <br />A. The Contractor shall be responsible for all hot work and hot work monitoring. The <br />Contractor shall be responsible for coordinating hot work with Owner. <br />B. Hot work shall not be initiated until written approval from Owner has been provided to the <br />Contractor.
