IRC-1838 Indian River County <br />Main Library <br />Roof Replacement 06 10 00-3 Rough Carpentry <br />1.7 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING <br />A. Keep materials under cover and dry. Protect against exposure to weather and contact with <br />damp or wet surfaces. Store a minimum of four inches above ground on framework or <br />blocking. Stack lumber as well as plywood and other panels; provide for air circulation <br />within and around stacks. Cover with protective waterproof covering providing for <br />adequate air circulation and ventilation <br />B. Exposure to precipitation during shipping, storage or installation shall be avoided. If <br />material does become wet, it shall be replaced or permitted to dry prior to covering or <br />enclosure by other roofing, sheet metal or other construction materials (except for <br />protection during construction). <br />C. Immediately upon delivery to job site, place materials in area protected from weather. <br />D. Do not store seasoned materials in wet or damp portions of building. <br />E. Protect sheet materials from corners breaking and damaging surfaces, while unloading. <br /> PRODUCTS <br />2.1 MATERIALS <br />A. Lumber: Shall Be No. 2 or better spruce or southern yellow pine. Shall be sound, <br />thoroughly seasoned, dressed to nominal finish dimension, and free of warpage, cupping, <br />and bowing. Dimensions shall be determined by job conditions or as indicated in detail <br />drawings. <br />B. Plywood Sheathing: Shall be structural 1 rated. Plywood shall be stamped APA RATED <br />SHEATHING grade-C or better and shall be manufactured with exterior glue (exposure 1). <br />Plywood shall have a minimum thickness of 3/4 inch or as required to match existing. <br />C. Preservative Treatment: <br />1. Treatment: ACQ as manufactured for Viance in accordance with AWPA U1 and <br />P5, P26, P27, P28, P29 as appropriate. Use 0.15 lb/cu ft (2.4 kg/m3) of ACQ in <br />accordance with AWPA U1: (UC3B) as appropriate. <br />2. Treatment: Ecolife or EL2 as manufactured by Viance. Use 0.019 lb/cu ft (0.3 <br />kg/m3) of Ecolife or EL2 (+ 0.2 lb/cu ft MCS) in accordance with AWPA U1 (UC3B) <br />as appropriate. <br />3. Engineers accepted equivalent. <br />2.2 FASTENERS <br />A. General: <br />1. All fasteners shall be stainless steel or as approved by Engineer. <br />2. Fasteners securing pressure treated lumber shall be manufactured for corrosion <br />resistance and exposures associated with pressure treated wood applications. <br />3. Nails shall not be used at roof edges to fasten rough carpentry, lumber, plywood, <br />etc. Screws, anchors, and/or machine bolts shall be used to secure rough <br />carpentry at roof perimeter edges. <br />4. Masonry screws, spikes, and drive-pins shall not be used to fasten edge/perimeter <br />nailers to concrete decks. Minimum ½” diameter anchors or bolts shall be used to <br />secure roof edge nailers to concrete substrates. <br />B. Wood to steel deck and light gage steel framing (16-ga. or less):
