3 SEC. 401. MMGATION ASSISTANCE IN FEDERAL INSUR. <br />4 ANCE ADNMNISTRATION. <br />5 Section 1105(a) of the Housing and Urban Develop - <br />6 ment Act of 1968 (42 U.S.C. 4129(a)) is amended - <br />7 (1) by inserting "(1)" after "(a)"; and <br />8 (2) by adding at the end the following new <br />9 paragraph: <br />10 "(2) The Director of the Federal Emergency Man - <br />11 agement Agency shall coordinate all mitigation activities, <br />12 including the administration of the program for mitigation <br />13 assistance under section 1367, under the Federal Insur- <br />14 ance Administrator. These activities shall include the de - <br />15 velopment and implementation of various mitigation ac - <br />16 tivities and techniques, the provision of advice and assist - <br />17 ance regarding mitigation to States, communities, and in - <br />18 dividuals, including planning assistance under section <br />19 1367(d), coordination with other Federal flood and erosion <br />20 mitigation efforts, and coordination with State and local <br />21 governments and public and private agencies and organi- <br />22 nations for collection and dissemination of information re - <br />23 garding erosion.". <br />•S 14M 1S <br />
