Each area of funding <br />would be associated with a need that has arisen as a direct result of COVID-19. <br />• Broadband and other technology needs for families and nonprofits to provide and <br />enhance distance learning & teleworking (e.g. — families with multiple children need <br />multiple devices for schooling, nonprofits & volunteers mentoring children, etc.) <br />• Mental Health needs are beginning to skyrocket. Areas of need include: expanding & <br />enhancing telemedicine, cost of mental health visits, additions of mental health <br />professionals, costs of behavioral health prescriptions, etc. <br />• Legal assistance to renters and homeowners about to be displaced by landlords and <br />financial institutions. <br />• Upgrading and retrofitting facilities to more fully prevent the spread of COVID-19. <br />Since mid-March, United Way's COVID-19 Community Response Fund has focused its funding <br />in the following most critical areas (not an all-inclusive list). CARES Act funds will be used for <br />these critical needs when our COVID-19 Fund monies are exhausted. <br />• Food Supports (food banks & pantries, food delivery to seniors, emergency Meals on <br />Wheels, food for the homeless and other food insecure populations, etc.) <br />• Rental & mortgage assistance <br />• Utility assistance <br />• Special supports for children <br />• Special supports for veterans <br />• Child Care Scholarships for up to 2 months for those returning to work (150% to 300% <br />of poverty) <br />United Way will receive a 3% administrative fee for managing these CARES Act funds. <br />NOTE: UWIRC would utilize an Unmet Needs Committee structure to research and prioritize <br />needs, be part of the decision making process and review reports from those receiving CARES <br />Act funding. <br />
