BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />PROCLAMATION DECLARING AND EXTENDING A. LOCAL STATE <br />OF EMERGENCY IN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, IN <br />CONNECTION WITH HURRICANE MATTHEW <br />WHEREAS, on October P, 2016, Governor Rick Scott, in his capacity as Governor of <br />the State of Florida, issued Executive Order Number 2016-230, declaring that a stale of <br />emergency existed in all or portions of the State of Florida (including Indian River County) by <br />reason of Hurricane Matthew-, and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to section 101 - I 0(l) of the Code of Indian River Countv, and <br />Resolution 2015-127 of the Board of County Commissioners. the County Administratoriffidian <br />River County Emergency Services District Director is authorized to declare a local state of <br />emergency upon making a determination that a natural disaster has occurred or is imminent, <br />requiring immediate and expeditious action; and <br />WHEREAS, in my capacity as County Administrator and Indian River County <br />Emergency Services Director, I determined that, by reason of Hurricane Matthew, the threat of a <br />natural disaster had occurred or was imminent, requiring immediate and expeditious action, and <br />declared that a local state of emergency existed in all of Indian River County, Florida, effective <br />as of 7:00 a.m., on the 6th day of October, 2016; and <br />WHEREAS, as of October 13th, Indian River County is still suffering the effects of <br />Hurricane Matthew, which pose a threat to the public health, safety and welfare of the citizens of <br />Indian River County; <br />OFf ICEOF THE CO UNTY A DNIINIS TRA TOR <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />1801 27th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960-3388 <br />Phone: 772-226-1408 - Fax: 772-978-1822 <br />C:\Users\droykAppDataNLocal\M icrosoffiWinclows\Tem porn ry Internet Files\Content.Outlook\EKXE6011B12016 <br />Declaration -Local Emergency (State Declared- Administrator)(Extension),doc <br />
