BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />4 1 rq <br />PROCLAMATION DECLARING AND EXTENDING A LOCAL STATE <br />OF EMERGENCY IN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, IN <br />CONNECTION WITH HURRICANE MATTHEW <br />,rd <br />WHEREAS, on October -) , 2016, Governor Rick Scott, in his capacity as Governor of <br />the State of Florida, issued Executive Order Number 2016-230, declaring that a state of <br />emergency existed in all or portions of the State of Florida (including Indian River County) by <br />reason of hurricane Matthew; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to section 101.10(1) of the Code of" Indian River County, and <br />Resolution 2015-127 of the Board of County Commissioners, the County Administrator/Indian <br />River County Emergency Services District Director is authorized to declare a local state of <br />emergency upon making a determination that a natural disaster has occurred or is immir.-crit, <br />requiring immediate and expeditious action; and <br />WHEREAS, in my capacity as County Administrator and Indian River County <br />Emergency Services Director, I determined that,, by reason of Hurricane Matthew, the threat of a <br />natural disaster had occurred or was imminent, requiring immediate and expeditious action, and <br />declared that a local state of emergency existed in all of Indian River County, Florida, effective <br />as of 7:00 a.m., on the 6th day of October, 2016; and <br />WHEREAS, on October 13, 2016, and again on October 20, 2016, 1 declared and <br />extended the local state of emergency as Indian River County was still suffering the effects of <br />Hurricane Matthew, posing a threat to the public health, safety and welfare of the citizens of <br />Indian River County; <br />WHEREAS, as of October 27, 2016, Indian River County is still suffering the effects of <br />Hurricane Matthew, which continue to pose a threat to the public health, safety and welfare of <br />the citizens of Indian River County, <br />
