hours, which flooded streets and three houses in the City. The <br />storm caused an estimated $50,000 in damage. <br />Flooding of August 19, 2008. The City of Sebastian <br />experienced heavy rainfall associated with Tropical Storm <br />Fay. Rainfall amounts ranged from 10 to 15 inches. There <br />was one indirect fatality when a car hydroplaned and <br />crashed. <br />Flooding of August 27, 2008. Vero Beach <br />experienced persistent heavy rain bands from Tropical <br />Storm Isaac that caused widespread urban and lowland <br />flooding across much of the county. Rainfall averaged 4 to 8 <br />inches, with isolated totals of 14 to 17 inches. Twenty-seven <br />manufactured homes and two single family homes were <br />damaged by water intrusion and 20 roads were temporarily <br />closed due to standing water during the height of the <br />flooding. <br />Flooding of May 17, 2016. Sebastian received <br />persistent thunderstorms produced extremely heavy rain <br />with a short time period. Numerous roads were closed due <br />to high water and several cards were flooded. Standing <br />water remained high within many neighborhoods for over 24 <br />hours. The Vero Beach Airport recorded a record 11.22 <br />inches for the day and 8.99 inches accumulated in four <br />hours. <br />Flooding of October 7, 2016. Rain bands associated <br />with Hurricane Matthew produced rainfall totals between 3.5 <br />and 4.5 inches, resulting in areas of mostly minor urban and <br />poor drainage flooding. Several roadways were impacted by <br />significant ponding. <br />Flooding of September 10, 2017. Fellsmere, <br />Sebastian and Vero Beach experienced rain bands associated <br />with Hurricane Irma that produced rainfall totals between 8 and <br />15 inches, resulting in areas of urban and poor drainage <br />flooding, especially across the southern portion of the county. <br />Numerous roadways were impacted by significant levels of <br />standing water and many retention ponds reached capacity or <br />overflowed. <br />Extent/Probability/Impact.
