12/27/89(Legal)SPB02(Vb)CKE <br />r"O <br />2 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 90-2 <br />A RESOLUTION OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA, TO THE GOVERNOR AND CABINET OF <br />THE STATE OF FLORIDA AND TO THE <br />LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION OF INDIAN RIVER <br />COUNTY IN SUPPORT OF FUNDING CERTAIN <br />LIBRARY AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES. <br />WHEREAS, the quality of life which Floridians <br />enjoy Is kept high not only by having sufficient <br />Infrustructure available but also by having cultural and <br />artistic amenities available to its population, and <br />WHEREAS, in times of budgetary shortfalls there is <br />a tendency to look first to cultural activities as a place <br />where fiscal savings can be made, and <br />WHEREAS, the cost of library and cultural activity <br />support is very small compared with the benefits derived <br />from the expense, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that: <br />1. The Board of County Commissioners strongly urges <br />the Governor and Cabinet of the State of Florida and the <br />Legislative Delegation of Indian River County to support <br />funding of library grants for all facets of library services <br />throughout Florida and, in particular in the Indian River <br />County area. <br />2. The Board of County Commissioners supports the <br />major grant applications filed by the Center of for the Arts <br />in Indian River County and hopes the State will be able to <br />award the grants. <br />3. The Board of County Commissioners urges that grant <br />applications from small counties be given the same <br />consideration as large counties, since even small counties <br />can have outstanding cultural offerings and will benefit <br />from theater, music, art, dance and other cultural <br />activities. <br />The foregoing Resolution was offered by <br />
