Szpyrka, P.E., Public Works Director FROM: Monique Filipiak, Land Acquisition Specialist SUBJECT: Renewal of Lease Agreement — 66th Avenue Project/Phase II #15058 7125 66th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32967 Tenants: Paul Edward Thompson and Rennie Sue Thompson DATE: September 30, 2020 DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS Public Works is progressing with Right -of -Way acquisition for the planned improvements of 66th Avenue between 69th Street - 85th Street. The County purchased the 0.63 acres parcel located at 7125 66th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32967 from Paul Edward Thompson and Rennie Sue Thompson on October 28, 2019. The purchase included a Lease Agreement for the Thompsons for (12) twelve months of extended possession at $1.00 a month in the current home in order to give sufficient time to complete their new residence to the west of the property. The current lease agreement is subject to a one 30 day extension if the new house is not completed. The Thom psons have had numerous delays with the construction of the new homed ue to the pandemic. They have requested the lease be extended an additional (4) four months. This would include the one 30 day extension, and the lease renewal would expire on March 1, 2021. Phase II/#1505B of the 66th Avenue road project is estimated to begin in 2022, so the extension of the lease agreement will not interfere with current progress of the Phase 1/#1505 road project plans. FUNDING Lease payments received over the four months totaling $4.00 will be deposited into the General Fund/Rents & Royalties account 001038-362010. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends the Board approve the Renewal of Lease Agreement for the property located at 7125 66th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32967, and authorize the Chairman to execute the Renewal of Lease Agreement on behalf of the Board.
