While suspended, youth will be provided <br />with the instruction to complete missing schoolwork and the skills to learn how to prevent future <br />suspension by addressing the root cause of the suspension. At the end of the day, there will be a <br />service opportunity for participating youth to support our community, as the community is <br />supporting them in this initiative. ALTOSS has been proven to be effective in decreasing repeat <br />suspensions by using targeted activities to increase the student's awareness of the importance <br />of positive character, relationships, respect, and cooperation. <br />Healthy Families Indian River is a home visitation program. Services are initiated during <br />pregnancy and/or if the infant is 3 months of age or younger, for mothers who are vulnerable for <br />meeting the challenges of adding a new member to the family. Some mothers have diagnosed <br />mental health issues and need positive parenting techniques to help raise their baby. Participants <br />also learn about the importance of healthcare, well -baby checks, childhood immunizations, and <br />family planning. Also, Family Support Workers (FSW s) conducts regular developmental <br />screenings of the children along with the families to identify if infants and young children need <br />further evaluation for developmental delays that affect readiness for school. FSW s help families <br />access quality daycare and services in the community. Referrals to community partners assist in <br />aiding families to gain assistance in other areas of need. <br />Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP): According to National Registry of Evidence -Based Programs <br />and Practice, CPP is an intervention for children from birth through age 5 who have experience <br />at least one traumatic event and as a result, are experience behavior, attachment and /or mental <br />health problems. Through this intervention children who have experienced toxic stress will be able <br />
