B. Proclamation Honoring Jeannette Becker Riel <br />PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, JEANETTE BECKER RIEL joined forces with the Women's <br />Suffrage movement in 1919 and marched for women's <br />rights; and <br />WHEREAS, JEANETTE BECKER RIEL was associated with the national, <br />state and local election system, and appointed to the <br />Missouri State and National for Business and Professional <br />Women'in 1920; and <br />WHEREAS, JEANETTE assisted with actions leading to the ratifica- <br />tion of the nineteenth amendment to the Constitution in <br />1920; and <br />WHEREAS, JEANETTE was instrumental in helping many responsible <br />women of high integrity run for, and win elections to <br />offices of leadership; and <br />WHEREAS, JEANETTE exhibited complete understanding of the grass- <br />roots process and its use in turning people out to vote. <br />She has been a tireless organizer of volunteers and <br />precinct workers, and has inspired more people and <br />stuffed more envelopes than anyone in the Republican <br />Party of Florida or Indian River County; and <br />WHEREAS, her work as State Committeewoman has meant great gains <br />for the Republican Party; and <br />WHEREAS, JEANETTE BECKER RIEL received many honors for her party <br />affiliation and worked diligently to;make the world a <br />better place for women to take their part in leadership: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Indian River County Board <br />of County Commissioners that JEANETTE BECKER RIEL be <br />honored by all the citizens of this community for her <br />dedication to the revolution of women in leadership. <br />Presented May 8, 1995, and made part of the permanent <br />record of Indian River County at the Board of County <br />Commissioners meeting held on May 16, 1995. <br />May 16, 1995 <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMNIISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />enneth R.
