Szpyrka P.E., Public Works Director <br />FROM: Keith McCully, P.E., Stormwater Engineer <br />SUBJECT: Approval of Work Order No. MM -1 With Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. for <br />Structural Design of the Moorhen Marsh Low Energy Aquatic Plant System Redesign <br />DATE: November 12, 2020 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Bids for construction of Moorhen Marsh Low Energy Aquatic Plant System (Moorhen Marsh) were <br />received July 14, 2020 and bid prices were significantly higher than anticipated. Consequently, on <br />August 18, 2020, the Board of County Commissioners voted to reject all bids and directed staff to <br />design a more basic treatment facility that would result in lower construction costs. Staff is <br />approaching the ninety percent design level and now requires specialized structural engineering <br />assistance for the concrete facilities. Work Order MM -1 with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. (KH) <br />for the structural design assistance is attached.
