Wehking, Director, Library Services <br />Subiect: Indian River Countv Library State Aid to Libraries Grant <br />T <br />ent Agendaeeting 09.22-2020 <br />BACKGROUND <br />In order to comply with the State Division of Library Information Services State Aid Grant Application, <br />the Indian River County Library System must have the Grant Agreement, Certification of Hours, and <br />Annual Plan approved by the Governing Board and the Grant Agreement and Certification of Hours <br />signed by the Chair. <br />DESCRIPTIONS AND CONDITIONS: <br />The State Aid to Libraries Grant awarded to Indian River County Libraries was $85,304 for Fiscal Year <br />2019-20. The Grant requires Indian River County Library System to provide free library service, <br />including loaning materials available for circulation free of charge and providing reference and <br />information services free of charge. The Libraries must provide access to materials and information and <br />services for all residents of the area served; and, to have at least one library, branch library, or member <br />library open 40 hours or more each week. <br />Additionally, the Indian River County Library System must have a Commission Approved Annual Plan <br />of Service on file. The Annual Plan of Service is an outline of the Indian River County Library <br />System's focus of activities during the year. The plan supports the goals, objectives, and action plan for <br />the Library System's Long -Range Plan, and are supported by the Library System's budget. <br />FUNDING: <br />No funding is required. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff respectfully recommends that the Board of County Commissioners approve the Indian River <br />County Library System State Aid Grant Agreement, Certification of Hours, and Annual Plan and <br />authorize the Chairman to sign and return the State Aid Grant Agreement and Certification of Hours for <br />FY 2020-21 to the Library Services Director to be forwarded to the appropriate State Library staff. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />State Aid to Libraries Grant Agreement <br />Certification of Hours, Free Library Service and Access to Materials <br />Annual Plan of Service FY 2020/2021 <br />AGENDA ITEM FOR SEPTEMBER 22.2020 <br />WC <br />
