Brown, County Administrator <br />THROUGH: Tad Stone, Director <br />Department of Emergency Services <br />FROM: Erin Baskins, Staff Assistant IV <br />Department of Emergency Services <br />DATE: September 10, 2020 <br />SUBJECT: Approval of Renewal for a Class "A" Certificate of Public Convenienc <br />and Necessity for Indian River County Department of Emergency <br />Services. <br />It is respectfully requested that the information contained herein be given formal <br />the Board of County Commissioners at the next scheduled meeting. <br />DESCRIPTION: <br />by <br />On September 11, 2018, the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners approv6d a <br />renewal of the Class "A" Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity for the Indian River <br />County Department of Emergency Services to provide BLS/ALS Emergency Medical Services <br />originating within Indian River County. This certificate was necessary in order to comply with Indian <br />River Code of Laws and Ordinances as specified in Chapter 304. The certificate, was approved 4nd <br />renewed for a period of two (2) years and will expire October 15, 2020, and the renewal process <br />should be accomplished prior to that date. i <br />The Indian River County Code provides for routine renewal of the Certificate of Public Conveniefice <br />and Necessity on an application by the certificate holder. This can be accomplished without a public <br />hearing if the Board has no reason to believe that the public health, safety, and welfare require it. <br />Staff submits that there is no reason to hold a public hearing and absent that requirement, the Bolyd <br />is requested to renew the certificate. <br />An application for the renewal of the Class "A" certificate has been submitted by Indian Ril <br />County Department of Emergency Services. Staff has reviewed the application and no reasons ; <br />known or perceived that would require a public hearing pursuant to the established ordinance. <br />FUNDING: <br />There are no funding requirements for this item. <br />,16 <br />
