3 11/1s/90(LEGAL)Reso3(Vk)RD <br />t A <br />t\ <br />RESOLUTION NO. 90- 171 <br />A RESOLUTION OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY TO <br />THE STATE OF FLORIDA, DIVISION OF <br />RECREATION AND PARKS, SUPPORTING <br />IMPROVEMENTS AT THE McLARTY MUSEUM. <br />WHEREAS, for many years the State of Florida has <br />operated the McLarty Treasure Museum on the beach in Indian <br />River County; and <br />WHEREAS, this museum has helped foster an appreciation <br />of Florida's long and Interesting history by the many <br />tourists, school children, and local residents who have been <br />to the museum; and <br />WHEREAS, in preparation for the celebration of the <br />500th anniversary of the Spanish in Florida, the Division of <br />Recreation and Parks has developed plans to improve the <br />museum by using recent discoveries and personal records <br />found in Spain; and <br />WHEREAS, this improvement would make an Interesting <br />museum even better and accordingly serve the public interest <br />by continuing to promote tourism; and <br />WHEREAS, the Division is applying for a grant for <br />financial assistance to make this improvement possible, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the <br />Board strongly endorses the grant request by the Division of <br />Recreation and Parks for improvements to the McLarty <br />museum. <br />The resolution was moved for adoption by Commissioner <br />Bird and the motion was seconded by Commissioner <br />Scurlock , and, upon being put to a vote, the vote <br />was as follows: <br />Chairman Carolyn K.
