4/26/89( WGCORD)LEGAL(WGC/nhm) <br />f 5fi, <br />RESOLUTION NO. 89- 40 ti MAY 1989, P <br />ti C061iCU:lily <br />N DINLOi;UNT COT. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COU <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY;'df; <br />FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE DES I GNAT I ON OF <br />PORTION OF THE SEBASTIAN RIVER AS A NUI <br />Li <br />MANATEE PROTECTION AREA. <br />WHEREAS, the Department of National Resources Is <br />considering designating portions of the Sebastian River, <br />Including the North Fork, as a manatee protection area; and <br />WHEREAS, manatees are observed in these areas in <br />great numbers regularly and frequently; and <br />WHEREAS, the manatee would be eligible for <br />protection under Department of Natural Resources' rules <br />regulating the operation of speed or motor boat traffic were <br />this area to be designated for special protection; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of <br />County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida hereby <br />supports and endorses the efforts of the Department of <br />Natural Resources to provide special protection by rule to <br />the manatee habitat in the area of the Sebastian River, <br />especially the North Fork thereof. <br />1 The foregoing having been moved by Commissioner <br />Scurlock and seconded by Commissioner Eggert <br />— --- ----- upon <br />being put to a vote, was carried with a vote as follows: <br />Chairman Gary C.
