Brown, County Administrator <br />Kristin Daniels, Budget Director <br />FROM: Jennifer Hyde, Purchasing Manager <br />SUBJECT: Designation of Sole Source Items and Vendors <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Many of the key pieces of equipment utilized throughout the County are specialized due to <br />facility design and/or are standardized for consistency of operations. Many of these items are <br />identified as sole brand or sole source, as they are only available from the manufacturer, or one <br />of the manufacturer's authorized distributors. <br />ANALYSIS: <br />On July 16, 2019, the Board declared several items sole source, and enacted a three-year <br />effective term for the designations. Staff have identified additional sole source items that <br />should be added, as well as some modifications to previous sole source items. Additionally, <br />items previously designated as sole source prior to the Board's direction for the status to be <br />effective for only three years are due for review and approval by the Board. <br />The vendors and products requested for sole source are shown in the table on the following <br />pages. Current memos from each manufacturer describing their sole source for our purposes <br />are on file in with the Purchasing Division. <br />36 <br />
