M <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Adams, the Board unanimously approved <br />the employment of William Howard through "At Your <br />Service" at a cost of $22.69 an hour for 21 weeks <br />for a total cost of $19,059.60. <br />IUNNGS HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENTS - OSLO RD. TO 26TH ST. - <br />AMENDMENT NO.1 - KESILEY-HORN AND ASSOCIATES <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 5/30/95: <br />TO: James E. Chandler, <br />County Administrator <br />THROUGH: James W. Davis, P.E., <br />Public Works Director <br />FROM: Terry B. Thompson, P.EIS <br />Capital Projects Manager <br />SUBJECT: Amendment No. 1 - Kings Highway Improvements - Oslo Road <br />to 26th Street <br />DATE: May 30, 1995 FILE: AMIKINGS . AGN <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Kimley Horn and Associates, Inc. is under contract with Indian <br />River County to perform professional services for improvements to <br />Kings Highway. The Scope of Services includes the widening and <br />reconstruction of Kings Highway from a two lane to a four lane <br />divided facility from 26th Street south to 12th Street; <br />transitioning the four lane divided facility to a two lane roadway <br />trom 12th Street to 8th Street; and reconstructing a two lane <br />facility from 8th Street to Oslo Road. <br />Recent traffic counts indicate that the four lane divided facility <br />should continue to 4th Street, transitioning back to two lanes <br />south of 4th Street. The design cost of extending the four lane <br />section approximately one mile south is $20,000. <br />The attached Amendment No. 1 provides for extending the four lane <br />section south of 4th Street. The Amendment also provides for <br />accelerating the design and permitting of Kings Highway from 26th <br />Street to SR60 (Section I Improvements)to facilitate commencement <br />of construction by September, 1996. On May 23, 1995, the Board <br />approved a resolution amending the Indian River Mall Development <br />Order that included the Developer paying the $15,000 cost of <br />accelerating, permitting and design of the 58th Avenue Section I <br />Improvements. <br />47• <br />June, 6 1995 <br />BOOP( 95 PAGE32105 <br />
