_I <br />100F 95 : PAUL 427 <br />E911 COMMUNICATIONS CENTER - EQUIPMENT AND <br />MalillYll <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of June 6, 1995.: - <br />TO: Board of County Commissioners <br />THROUGS:- Jim Chandler, County Administrator <br />FROM: Doug Wright, Directorl:)' <br />Emergency Services <br />DATE: June 6, 1995 <br />.SUBJECT: Purchase of Certain Equipment and Furniture for <br />E9-1-1 Communications Center <br />It is respectfully requested that the information contained herein <br />be given formal consideration by the Board of County Commissioners <br />at the next regular scheduled meeting. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS: <br />The Sheriff's Department staff at the E9-1-1 Center is seeking <br />funding from the 911 surcharge revenue in the amount of $2,491 to <br />purchase replacement office furniture and equipment. This request <br />represents a partial furniture replacement of a type which is <br />consistent with existing office equipment. If <br />the Board approves the request, funding for the furniture and <br />equipment would have to be appropriated from the 9-1-1 surcharge <br />contingency...account and a budget amendment would be necessary. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS: <br />The dispatchers' chairs and the facsimile machine are more than <br />five (5) years old. The facsimile machine is used to send/receive <br />informational bulletins and is routinely jamming and generally <br />unreliable. The concern is that important bulletins will not be <br />receivedand disseminated to governmental agencies in a timely <br />manner with the undependable and unreliable machine. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends approval of the funding request from the Sheriff's <br />Department for the 9-1-1 Communications Center and requests the <br />Board authorize the necessary budget amendment of $2,491. <br />JUNE 139 1995 87 <br />� � r <br />
