na 95 fnt 543 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 95-75 <br />MUNICIPAL BOND INSURANCE <br />The County has applied to three municipal bond insurers for- a commitment for the issuance of a <br />municipal bond insurance policy insuring the principal and interest on the Bonds when due. Provision <br />of municipal bond insurance is at the option of the bidder. The identification of the municipal bond <br />insurer will be provided to prospective bidders by way of [Munifacts] prior to the time bids are required <br />to be submitted to the County. <br />THE COUNTY <br />Background <br />Indian River County (the "County") was established in 1925 by an act of the Florida Legislature, <br />separating it from St. Lucie County. The County encompasses approximately 497 square miles and is <br />located in the middle of Florida on the eastern coast, approximately 100 miles southeast of Orlando and <br />approximately 160 miles north of Miami. The County is bounded on the north by Brevard County, on <br />the south by St. Lucie County, on the west by Osceola and Okeechobee Counties and on the east by the <br />Atlantic Ocean. The City of Vero Beach is the -seat of County government and the largest city in the <br />County. Other incorporated cities located within the County are Fellsmere, Indian River Shores, Orchid <br />and Sebastian. There are approximately 100 miles of waterfront land in the County, including about 23 <br />miles of Atlantic beaches. For additional information see Appendix B "General Information Pertaining <br />to Indian River County, Florida". <br />County Government <br />Indian River County utilizes a County Commission/County Administrator form of government.- <br />Indian <br />overnment.Indian River County is governed by a five -member Board of County Commissioners (the "Board") elected <br />for 4 year overlapping terms. The Board elects its Chairman and Vice -Chairman, and appoints a County <br />Administrator, County Attorney and executive aide to the Board. The County Administrator is <br />responsible for the administration and operation of the County government. <br />Other elected County officials are the Tax Collector, Property Appraiser, Supervisor of Elections, <br />Clerk of the Circuit Court, Sheriff, Circuit Court Judges, and County Judges.
