If no <br />a. competitive bidding including notice to establish an outside counsel bank <br />of firms intamted In handling county matters at a reduced rate and at <br />capped fees — firms selected off list according to expertise and <br />experience; <br />b. solicitation of bids for each case from at least three firms in the l9eldHmd <br />Commissioner Adams cited a few examples of situations which <br />had occurred in other counties and asked for feedback from the <br />Board members that she could take to the next meeting. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Tippin, the Board unanimously <br />approved that positive feedback be taken back <br />to FACo concerning the legal defense fund. <br />FACO - CHANGE IN BYLAWS REGARDING WEIGHTED VOTING <br />Commissioner Adams explained they would be voting on a bylaw <br />change regarding weighted voting. She pointed out that each <br />Commissioner had their votes weighted depending upon how many <br />people are in their county. Each Commissioner has 10 votes and if <br />all are there and voting on an issue, this Board would have 50 <br />votes and Palm Beach carries 88 and Dade County carries 199 per <br />Commissioner. The change would keep the larger counties from <br />controlling the voting and make it a little more equitable. The <br />members of -Board of County Commissioners agreed that it should be <br />changed. <br />114 <br />June 20, 1995 <br />
