Cjyr- <br />County Traffic Engineer <br />DATE: June 16, 1995 <br />SUBJSCT: FDOT Grant Application For Sign -Making Equipment <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has tentatively <br />reserved $28,850 of Federal Highway Safety (402) Funds for Indian <br />River County's use. These funds can be used by the County to <br />purchase a computerized sign maker; that is, a machine that <br />automatically cuts letters and legends for sign faces. Since the <br />County currently hand -cuts all of the sign faces, this machine will <br />drastically reduce the time involved in making signs. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Staff recommends that the Board be notified that due to time <br />constraints, the County Administrator has authorized the submittal <br />of the attached grant application to FDOT for processing. There is <br />no cost to the County. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously authorized <br />the submittal of the grant application to FDOT for <br />processing, as recommended by staff. <br />13 <br />JUNE 279 1995 <br />
