5, A, <br />PROCLAMATION <br />DESIGNATING THE JACKIE ROBINSON TRAINING COMPLEX AS THE <br />OFFICIAL TRAINING FACILITY OF THE USA SOFTBALL NATIONAL <br />TEAMS <br />WHEREAS, effective January 2, 2019 Major League Baseball assumed operation of the <br />Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach; and <br />WHEREAS, Major League Baseball's mission is to utilize the Jackie Robinson Training <br />Complex to serve as a hub for the growth and development of the games of baseball and softball, and <br />to continue Jackie Robinson's legacy of developing diverse young people both on and off the field ; and <br />WHEREAS, it was announced on January' 23, 2020 that Major League Baseball was to enhance <br />its partnership with USA Softball by becoming the presenting sponsor of the United States Women's <br />National Softball Team's "Stand Beside Her" Tour in preparation for the 2020 Summer Olympics; and <br />WHEREAS, April 12, 2021 marked the start of the United States Women's National Softball <br />Team's first training camp hosted by the Jackie Robinson Training Complex; and <br />I <br />WHEREAS, an open practice session was held at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex on <br />April 16, 2021 providing the local Indian River County community with the opportunity to experience a <br />US Women's National Softball Team practice in'person; and <br />WHEREAS, in July of 2021 the Women's National Softball Team will represent the United <br />States in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS, INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that the Board designates the Jackie <br />Robinson Training Complex as the Official Training Facility of the USA Softball National Teams, <br />and hereby congratulates Major League Baseball on its efforts and success in Indian River County. <br />Adopted this 20th day of April, 2021. , BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />wim- ma 9 :r.%Mr a1.� <br />
