6A <br />PROCLAMATION <br />DESIGNATING THE MONTH OF JULY, 2021, AS <br />PARKS AND RECREATION MONTH AND DESIGNATING <br />JULY 16, 2021 AS PARKS AND RECREATION PROFESSIONALS DAY <br />WHEREAS, parks, conservation lands and recreation programs are an integral part of communities throughout this country, <br />especially here in Indian River County; and <br />WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation Month was established in 1985 and celebrates its 361h year in the state of Florida and <br />nationwide; and <br />WHEREAS, county parks and conservation areas preserve the ecological beauty of our community, improve water quality, <br />protect groundwater, prevent flooding, improve air quality, are aesthetically pleasing, and provide open green space for people and <br />valuable habitat for wildlife; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County is fortunate to have many beautiful parks, playgrounds, ball fields, golf courses, swimming <br />facilities, nature trails, beaches, fairgrounds, campgrounds, intergenerational recreational facilities, a shooting range, and open spaces, <br />which make our community a more attractive and desirable place to live, work and play; as well as to contribute to our ongoing economic <br />vitality through enhancing property values, increased tourism, the attraction of visitors and recreational events; and <br />WHEREAS, services that parks and recreation professionals provide are vital for our communities — from protecting open <br />space and natural resources to providing wellness and mental health benefits for all people. Parks and Recreation Month encourages <br />everyone to reflect on the exponential value parks and recreation professionals bring to communities; and <br />WHERAS, the U.S House of Representatives has designated July as Parks and Recreation Month; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board values the essential services that parks and recreation professionals and volunteers perform to provide <br />recreational activities that build healthy, active communities that aid in the prevention of chronic disease, and also improve the mental <br />and emotional health of all citizens; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA, that the Board designates July as Parks and Recreation Month, and July 16 as Parks and Recreation. Professionals Day <br />and encourages all citizens to celebrate by participating in the diverse activities offered through the many facilities and places provided <br />by Indian River County. <br />Adopted this the 13th day of July, 2021 BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />Joseph E.
