INDIAN RIVER COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SITTING AS SOLID <br />WASTE DISPOSAL DISTRICT BOARD <br />PROOF OF PUBLICATION FOR THIS HEARING IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF <br />THE CLERK TO THE BOARD. <br />The Board of County Commissioners reconvened as the Board of Commissioners of <br />the Solid Waste Disposal District. The minutes will be approved at an upcoming <br />meeting. <br />6.A. Announce 2021/2022 Proposed Charge and Budget. <br />21-0817 Solid Waste Disposal District <br />Attachments: SWDD Fund <br />Management and Budget Director Kristin Daniels disclosed that the FY 2021/22 <br />Solid Waste Disposal District (SWDD) proposed budget is $19,375,997. <br />The FY 2021/22 proposed charges and Budget for the SWDD were outlined by <br />Budget Director Daniels as follows: <br />1. $84.76 per Residential Waste Generation Unit ($135.62/House) <br />(8.15% increase from current year) <br />$47.64 per Commercial Waste Generation Unit <br />(7.01 % increase from current year) <br />Readiness -to -Use Fee $29.51 <br />(7.62% increase from current year) <br />2. $19,375,997 Budget <br />Chairman Flescher opened the public hearing. <br />Daniel Richey, 2625 63rd Street, came before the Board to address the citrus <br />packing houses and the Solid Waste Fee Structure. He explained to the Board how <br />the SWDD rate was calculated on a square foot measurement and that the State <br />dictates the waste fee. He complimented Nancy Allen from the SWDD for her <br />help on the matter. He described the state of the citrus industry today compared to <br />the past and felt there should be a hybrid of determinations when calculating the <br />SWDD rate for citrus packing houses. <br />County Administrator Jason Brown stated the Board planned on re-evaluating the <br />assessments on properties in the near future and make adjustments accordingly; <br />however, he suggested for the short term having staff work with Mr. Richey to <br />resolve the issue. <br />Indian River County Florida Page 1 <br />
