EXHIBIT A <br />CHILDREN'S SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br />2021-22 GRANT APPLICATION <br />Agency Name: <br />Mental Health Association in Indian River County <br />Address: <br />820 37th Place, Vero Beach, FL, 32960, US <br />Executive Director: <br />Philip Cromer <br />Email: <br />philip@mhairc.org <br />Phone: <br />(772) 569-9788 <br />Program Director: <br />Jeanne Shepherd <br />Email: <br />jeanne@mhairc.org <br />Phone: <br />(772) 569-9788 <br />Program(s) Name: <br />Middle & High School Violence & Suicide Prevention Program <br />Focus Area(s): <br />Addressing Risky Youth Behavior <br />PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: <br />The Middle & High School Violence & Suicide Prevention Program provides county -wide services <br />for IRC youth within area schools to educate students on mental health, ensure access to mental <br />health care, intervene as needed to prevent avoidable harm and crisis, provide additional, ongoing <br />support, and effectively treat emotional and behavioral concerns that can worsen if left untreated. <br />The program's mental health professionals will: <br />• Provide on-site support in collaboration with Substance Awareness Center on Erika's Lighthouse <br />to include coordinating and following up with referral cards for students who request immediate <br />intervention. <br />• Provide crisis intervention and mental health support to students in need of immediate <br />assistance, to prevent harm to self or others, and to restore stability and functioning. <br />• Provide ongoing mental health treatment services to effectively address emotional and <br />behavioral health needs of students with diagnosable mental health concerns. <br />• Deliver critical incident support for traumatic events negatively impacting students, parents <br />and/or staff to restore disrupted functioning and assist with healing. <br />This program maximizes the number of IRC middle and high school students given the opportunity <br />to participate in needed mental health services, increasing their capabilities for positive <br />functioning and decision-making. Services are provided for IRC students grades 6-12 and within <br />IRC public, private and charter middle and high schools. Our community benefits as a whole when <br />its youth have successful behavioral and emotional outcomes. Program services expand the <br />community's safety net for IRC youth to have healthy, productive lives with specific outreach to <br />at -risk area middle and high school students. <br />The projected number of unduplicated children to be served is three thousand (3,000). <br />
